Description

In the department of Cusco, Peru, 60% of the children suffer from malnutrition

The goal of the project of  "Enfants de Cusco" (Children of Cusco) Association is to enrol groups of mothers during their first months of pregnancy and educate them on nutrition in training courses.

At the end of the month, each mother who has attended regularly will receive food (rice, sugar, oil) to a value of approximately 14 dollars. During a year 40 mothers (10 per quarter) will have a balanced diet. Their babies come into the world with a normal weight without suffering from nutritional deficiencies at birth.

The mothers will then know the basics of a healthy and balanced diet for themselves and their children.

The idea is to do a pilot project (with the help of Citizen Of Our World).  If it is a success, it will be repeated in the following years, with larger groups of mothers.

Methods of Monitoring (indicators for measuring success) - Number of mothers who regularly attend training sessions (as the mothers may have difficulty in understanding that their diet is important before the birth of their child) - Evaluation written (or oral) at the end of each quarter to assess what they have learned - Weight of children at birth
